There are some electronic things that reset themselves when unplugged and you wait a period of time (often an hour). It would be worth a try at least. I think it needs to be where it joins the electricity, vs. the breaker...doesn39;t seem logical though.

I am intrigued about using TSP. I see that it can be bought at numerous
places. Amazon has actual laundry detergent and dish washing detergent.
Lowes sell a "cleaning agent" can that be added to laundry detergent?
Would it be safe for all clothes and dishes?
Thanks.

Well, "you pays your money and you takes your chances", as the saying goes. TSP is often recommended as the cleaner
for walls, before you prime and paint. As in the name (P is for phosphates) - it's not good for the environment, especially water ways.
Hence phosphates were removed from common detergents, but not sure what was put in place. Perhaps more surfactants were added.
Since Phosphates were removed from detergents, how much to add back, who knows. Another product namely
Borax can be added to laundry to aid in washing. Read the label for recommendation. How much diff it makes, don't know.
If you have very touch laundry, it may help, but for average folks who do not play in mud and work on cars, it would be an overkill.
In the balance, I feel it was a good move to remove phosphates - most people did not need that much cleaning power.
All detergents and additives, which are tough on dirt, are also tough on whatever you're trying to clean. Dishes and glass get etched
and decoration slowly removed. Clothing fibers get slowly destroyed in washing by strong detergent.
I think it's much easier to set water to higher temp, but now you're wasting energy :-) Best not to get too dirty and rinse your dishes
soon after a meal.

Hi Paul, from what I can make out TSP is fairly safe and effective as a cleaner as long as the solution is well-diluted. However it is *very* environmentally damaging and its use was considered by many as antisocial before being largely substituted here in Europe. Sodium carbonate, whilst not quite as effective is nevertheless fairly useful in removing grease / oily stains, is much cheaper and a heck of a lot more environmentally-friendly.
