CINNAMINSON " An assault suspect's minivan was struck by a train Saturday night after he abandoned it to flee police, authorities said.

Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Taylor's Lane for a reported fight shortly after 11 p.m. Authorities located a victim who had been injured in the fight, and discovered that a train had struck the suspect's minivan, which had been left on the tracks at Taylor's Lane and River Road.

The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for significant injuries, police said. The suspect, 44-year-old Mehmat Baba of Delran, was located shortly afterward in the nearby woods where he'd fled before police arrived, authorities said.

Baba was arrested without incident and charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats, with more charges pending, police said. He was taken to Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly in default of $20,000 bail.
